The 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic was confirmed to have reached the French overseas department and region of Mayotte in March 2020.


A man from the department of Oise, France, arrived in Mayotte on 10 March. He had a suspicious flu, and was observed for three days in a hospital. After testing him on 13 March, the man tested positive for COVID-19.[2]

Mayotte recorded its first death on 31 March.[3]
